We are seeing an increase in chimney fires this week. Please burn safely. 1) Don’t start your fire with much paper if any. There are firestarters available. 2) DO NOT burn wet wood. Buy a moisture meter to check your wood. 3) Make sure you have WORKING smoke detectors on every floor & near all sleeping quarters. 4) Get your chimney cleaned & inspected every year. 5) Don’t damper your stove all the way down to a smolder. Keep a small hot fire. If your glass is sooted, your chimney is sooted.Let’s not lose lives & homes when it is preventable. Contact your local chimney professional for more information. ...
